We are looking for an Agricultural Finance Specialist to join us in building the company, and to ensure effective management and monitoring of agricultural loans. We are looking for someone with a fun and friendly personality, love for tech, and experience in agricultural finance. 

Job Description 

  • Loan Portfolio Management: Managing the entire lifecycle of agricultural loans, including loan origination, underwriting, servicing, and collections. This involves evaluating loan applications, assessing creditworthiness, monitoring loan performance, and taking appropriate actions to mitigate risk, such as identifying and addressing potential loan delinquencies or defaults. 

  •  

  • Field Visits: Conduct on-site visits to agricultural farms, agribusinesses, and other agricultural projects to assess their operations, production processes, financial performance, and repayment capacity. This may involve conducting interviews, inspections, and assessments of agricultural practices, crop yields, livestock management, and other relevant factors. 

  •  

  • Risk Monitoring: Monitor the performance of the portfolio by reviewing financial, operational, and market data, identifying potential risk issues, and implementing appropriate risk mitigation measures to ensure the portfolio remains within established risk tolerance levels. 

  •  

  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with borrowers, agricultural customers, and other stakeholders. This includes conducting site visits and addressing customer inquiries and concerns related to their loans. 

  •  

  • Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures related to portfolio management, credit risk, and other applicable areas. 

  •  

  • Loan Origination and Servicing: Collaborate with loan officers and underwriters to ensure smooth loan origination and servicing processes. This includes reviewing loan applications, verifying documentation, and ensuring loan files are complete and accurate. 

  •  

  • Loan Monitoring and Collections: Monitor the performance of agricultural loans, including tracking payments, identifying and addressing delinquencies, and initiating appropriate actions for loan collections or workouts. 

  •  

  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present reports on portfolio performance, including risk assessments, trends, and recommendations, to senior management, credit committees, or other relevant parties. Ensure all required documentation and records are accurately maintained and updated. 

  •  

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other teams, such as credit officers, loan processors, underwriters, legal teams, and other stakeholders, to ensure smooth loan origination, servicing, and collections processes, and to address any issues or challenges that may arise. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, finance, or business administration 

  • Strong knowledge of agricultural practices, production processes, market trends, and risks associated with the agricultural industry is essential. This may include understanding various crop and livestock production systems, agricultural value chains, weather patterns, commodity prices, and governmental policies impacting agriculture. 

  • Strong financial analysis skills, including ability to analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building and maintaining relationships with agricultural customers, stakeholders, and team members. This includes effective written and verbal communication, negotiation skills, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people, including farmers, agribusinesses, and other industry stakeholders. 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
